Shiny New Trophy!

An enjoyable day at the Shortwave Cinema in London yesterday was topped off by 3 Lions picking up the award for Best Documentary at the Kicks n Flicks Film Festival.

The 2006 England fan documentary was really well received by the audience in the South London cinema and was given the top award by a panel from the Football Supporters Federation and the Film Council. And it looks like World Cup Fever is certainly here, ready for the new tournament to kick off in South Africa next month.

If you haven't seen the film yet or want to get your hands on a copy, or would simply like to support the project, then 3 Lions is available to buy on DVD for only £5, including postage. You can buy it using paypal by clicking on the link at the bottom of the Ivisualise Player homepage: http://www.ivisualise.de/ivisplayer.htm
Or you can email Jamie McDine for other payment options: jamie@ivisualise.co.uk

A big thank you to the festival organisers and roll on 11mm auf Tour in Nürnberg next month, where 3 Lions will make another festival appearance.

FC Magdeburg... BLAUWEISS!

As we approach the end of the football season and things get interesting in the Premier League, the Regionalliga in Germany is looking like a season to forget for FC Magdeburg, with no chance of promotion. However, a couple of seasons ago things were far more interesting as the club went on a roller coaster of a season and were on the brink of promotion to the Bundesliga 2nd Division.... and I got to experience it too as I was documenting their season with the film "Blauweiss".

This week on the Ivisualise player homepage there is an exclusive extra from the limited edition DVD release of Blue and White: The Extras. This 5 minute film looks at the premiere of the stunning FC Magdeburg football documentary "Blauweiss" at the Theater Magdeburg, to a packed audience in 2007.

The tickets to the premiere and 3 subsequent nights were sold out before the event was advertised and a further 4 screenings were organised at the Moritzhof in Magdeburg, a FCM fan day... and the film was screened at the 11mm International Film Festival.

Jewish Berlin on the Ivisualise Player

The sensitive and emotional film "Jewish Berlin: Yesterday and Today" documents the visit of 20 members of the UK Jewish community to the city of Berlin. For most it was their first visit to Germany, and a place where they met a new generation of Germans, who were very friendly and welcoming.

During the four day trip to the capital they met local Jews and visited Jewish memorials, institutions and spoke with prominent German Jewish personalities. Among the sites visited were the Jewish Museum, the Holocaust Memorial and the Wannsee Conference Villa as well as the Grunewald Memorial and Touro College.

The film was commissioned by the German National Tourist Office, London (DZT) and produced by Jamie McDine in 2008. The aim of the trip, and the film, was to promote the concept of visiting Jewish Germany to the UK Jewry.

The full 20 minute version of the film is now available to watch on the Ivisualise Player, full screen and uninterrupted.

We'd love to hear your feedback on the film, the other films and this site, so please post a message on the message board, send us an email or drop a reply on the blog - or for those of you who are signed up to Vimeo, you can 'Like' the films too!

Enjoy the film and enjoy the rest of the Summer,
Jamie

Ivisualise Player Launched with Just Jack

The Ivisualise Player has finally been launched, and to celebrate the forthcoming release of his new album "All night Cinema", we decided it would be fitting to kick-off with the previously unseen film "Just Jack: The Outer Marker."

The film was shot with Jack back in 2003, with the live performances recorded at London's famous Jazz Café, and the intimate interview recorded a few days later backstage in Bristol. Jack was a delight to work with, and had a good understanding of cameras, shooting and what we were trying to achieve, thanks to his background in tv production - as he used to be a Runner.

The project came about as a result of my work with Ian Brown. His manager (at the time) gave me a few CDs of other bands he represented, and Jack's was the standout album that literally blew the others away. After listening to it over and over, and becoming a big fan of the record, I desperately wanted to work with Jack, so approached him with the idea of producing the rockumentary style film.

His manager had similar thoughts, as Jack was searching for a record deal in the US and several labels wanted to see how he performed live, so a DVD which showed off his personality and onstage talents seemed to fit the bill nicely.

It worked. Within months he was selling records stateside and recording his second album, after a transfer to the Mercury label. "Starz in their Eyes" made Jack a household name and I hope that the film I shot helped play some role in this truly great talent being where he deserves.
